Aberdeen sign Carlisle striker Sam Cosgrove

ABERDEEN today completed the transfer deadline day capture of Carlisle United striker Sam Cosgrove on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The 21-year-old travelled up to the Highlands to meet the Dons squad at their Inverness hotel before the Premiership clash at Ross County.
Cosgrove successfully underwent a medical and agreed personal terms to become Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes’ fourth signing of the January transfer window.
That will become five before midnight as Aberdeen are set to complete the loan signing of Newcastle United keeper Freddie Woodman until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old is on the bench for Newcastle against Burnley tonight but the Reds are confident the loan deal will be completed before the midnight deadline.
Woodman was an U20 World Cup winner with England last summer.
Celtic had been tracking Woodman but the keeper has opted for the Reds and the chance of regular first team action McInnes had to move for a keeper as No.1 Joe Lewis today underwent surgery on ligament damage to his left knee and is set to be out for up to three months.
On new signing Cosgrove, McInnes said: “Sam was one we had earmarked for the summer but during conversations with Carlisle it became clear they were keen to agree a deal for Sam in this transfer window so things progressed quickly.
?He?s a young guy who we feel has lots of potential and we?re looking forward to working with him to further develop his talent.
?I?m sure he?ll make a positive contribution to the team between now and the end of the season.?
Aberdeen made two changes to the side that beat Kilmarnock 3-1 for tonight’s game in Dingwall.
Kari Arnason and Ryan Christie come in with Anthony O’Connor and Dominic Ball dropping to the bench.
