Aberdeen held at Partick as winless run extends to four games

ABERDEEN?S winless run extended to four games as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate at relegation battling Partick Thistle.
The Dons have now taken just one point from the last possible nine in the Premiership.
They were also held 1-1 by Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup and will face a replay at Rugby Park on Tuesday.
This turgid draw was not the ideal preparation for facing in form Killie in an all or nothing cup tie that can make or break the season.
An impressive 1,291 strong travelling Red Army cheered on the Dons

Aberdeen made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock  in cup action last weekend.
Left-back Andy Considine returned from suspension with Dominic Ball also drafted in.
Adam Rooney and Kari Arnason both dropped to the bench.
Aberdeen created the first  opportunity in the seventh minute when Ball shot from range but his low 30 yard drive skidded wide of Tomas Cerny?s goal.
Moments later Conor Sammon attempted to break in on goal but centre-back Scott McKenna, who this week penned a contract extension until 2023, slid in with a superbly timed tackle to dispossess him at the edge of the penalty area.
Aberdeen threatened in the 15th minute when Cerny fluffed a punched clearance of an inswinging cross from Niall McGinn on the left.
The ball fell to Kenny McLean at the right edge of the penalty area.
The midfielder took a touch then attempted to curl an effort beyond Cerny from an acute angle but it flashed across the face of goal and wide.
Partick had a strong call for a penalty when Chris Erskine was breaking in on goal and collided with Ryan Christie to go down. The referee waved play on but the home supporters, and Erskine, were raging.
The game became as bogged down as the pitch with passes going astray in the poor conditions.
Aberdeen were denied in the 33rd minute when McLean drove upfield before sliding a pass to Christie on the overlap down the right.
Christie drilled a low cross into the penalty area towards the onrushing Shinnie who shot low from 10 yards. Keeper Cerny got down quickly to palm away the shot.
The skipper should have buried it.
Moments later a shot by Ball from the edge of the box  trundled wide.
In the 47th minute keeper Freddie Woodman pushed a vicious drive from Steveen Lawless wide at his near post.
The resultant corner found Erskine 15 yards out and his looping header sailed over Woodman but May was on hand to head off the line,
Soon after Shinnie blasted a shot over from 10 yards out as a promising Dons move failed to pay off.
Aberdeen’s leading scorer Rooney came on for May with more than half an hour remaining.
The Reds earned   a free kick in dangerous territory when McGinn was brought down at the edge of the box in the 74th minute.
However McLean shot over the defensive wall – and over the bar.
Deep into injury time Woodman blocked a powerful shot from Edwards at his near post to deny Partick.
A point will be far more beneficial to relegation battling Partick who had lost ...
